Hi, I’m Catalina. Meet my family, the reason Moonlight Baby Sleep came to be. My story is quite similar to yours and as a mother of two boys, I have been where you probably are right now.
With my first born, I naively dove into motherhood thinking my strong maternal instinct would be enough to look after my baby but sadly, I was wrong.
My baby boy would scream and cry overnight, feeling helpless I would feed him on demand till he fell asleep for sometimes only half an hour. Then repeated the process again and again.
Beginning my days exhausted, feeling powerless, with no idea how to settle my son into sleep was the norm. But I disliked how I felt and couldn’t accept that this was it to Motherhood.
Things had to change. I had little control over anything any more so when I had the motivation I began researching. Through a lot of unnecessary trial and error, I found methods that gave my husband and I sleep again. It was this sleep that gave us a sense of calm. Composed, we were actually able to think again, enjoy being parents and spend some quality time with each other. We were happy again and in control of daily life…err, to some extent anyway!
When I discovered that sleep was the solution to us being able to enjoy our baby, I wondered why there wasn’t more support and education out there for parents?
Why do we think instinct is enough to raise a human when we need education for almost everything else we do in life?
Preventing other parents going through what I had been through became my mission and Moonlight Baby Sleep was created.
I started a tertiary degree in infant and child sleep coaching. I got all my credentials and began my life mission to support parents in such a difficult time in their life.
My training gave me an in depth education on the science behind why sleep is a biological necessity. Sleep is needed to keep the body functioning healthy and especially to help babies with ongoing developments.
Education gave me the tools to understand when sleep training is beneficial, or red flag medical related sleep issues. I apply my knowledge to tailor Moonlight Services using different sleep training methods for specific circumstances and different family households.
During an assessment process, I work with parents to understand the family as a whole. Existing disturbed sleep patterns are listed, before devising personalised techniques and routines to improve the sleeping issues. There is never the same solution for every family.
I support families until the problem is resolved, to ensure results with every child.
Working with families to find practical solutions to make their family life happier and healthier is what drives me.
I am grateful every day for those dark days endured with my first baby. They led me to be able to help other families. It is a genuine privilege that my job is to empower parents and help babies sleep and thrive.
